With summer in full swing now is the perfect time to get outdoors and see what it is that makes Minneapolis unique. But for the purposes of this list, I’ll be putting the lens on what makes Minneapolis a fantastic destination for outdoor photography enthusiasts of all types — from business, to portraiture to landscape — and how said photographers may see the cityscape a bit different from most passersby.
A little more than (yikes) 14 years ago I stepped into a job interview that was a little awkward, to say the least. I had applied for a position as photo editor of a couple of newspapers and didn’t get the job. Instead, the company called me back to be reinterviewed for a related position — by the person they hired over me as the editor.
When Anthologie started, the work focused on families and weddings. It was a steady train that kept chugging along, gaining momentum each year. I’ve had so many wonderful experiences, shared in meaningful stories and connected with inspiring people around the country. But after nearly 10 years, I was ready to refocus and evolve my work again.
Often times, simply choosing to have new portraits made can be a difficult undertaking. After all, we’re our own worst critics so having all of the attention on us — and worse yet, our face — doesn’t always sound like the definition of a good time.
